We are proud to bring you Mais 5’s very first single release, “Coro da Primavera” by the legendary José Afonso – one of Portugal’s greatest songwriters.

This single heralds the full return of José Afonso’s recorded works with plans for the release of his 11 out-of-print albums (recorded between 1968 and 1981) via the Mais 5 label, created through a licensing deal between the Estate and Lusitanian Music Publishing.

This is also the first time that these historic, timeless songs are made available – legitimately – on streaming platforms around the world, an event of profound cultural relevance in Portugal and abroad.

“Coro da Primavera” is taken from the Cantigas do Maio album, the closing track on one of José Afonso’s most emblematic records. The new single’s cover artwork is brought to us by João Morais, aka O Gajo.
