Artwork by original designer José Santa-Bárbara with João Morais aka O Gajo as digital designer.

The most rustic phonographic portrait of José Afonso. The artist in full metamorphosis, using both the source of oral tradition and medieval and contemporary poets, from the calm of the countryside to the most complex urban existence and, of course, the innovative denunciation of the regime's oppression and colonial submission, all to fulfill the mission announced: finding new directions for Portuguese popular music.

A precursor to many others that later came to update the Portuguese musical traditions, Contos Velhos Rumos Novos is a wake-up call to José Afonso's music before it reached its dawn – the unstoppable movement portrayed in the convoy on José Santa-Bárbara's cover. All aboard!
